Late Registration: College of Integrative Sciences and Arts
To process a registration transaction after the posted deadline, students are required to obtain authorization from the college offering the course. Prior to the university ‘Add’ and ‘Drop’ deadlines, no approvals are needed. Students who wish to request a late registration transaction must follow the instructions listed below. Requests are reviewed on an individual basis. There is no guarantee that a late request will be approved as this request is an exception to university policy.
Request to Add a course, or Swap sections of the same course offered by the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA)
The course must be open and course prerequisites must be met or overrides must have been authorized and posted prior to the request being made.
- Complete the Enrollment Change Request Form and email the completed form to the CISA Administrative Office at cisa@asu.edu.
- Instructor approval via email is required for all late enrollment requests. When emailing the instructor, include the course subject, number and five-digit section number of the course requiring authorization.
- If explicit approval is given, forward the whole email exchange to cisa@asu.edu.
- Approvals must be given within 48 hours from when the request is submitted for review.
- Late add requests will only be considered with instructor approval during the following time frames:
- First week of A and B session courses (five business days from the start of the session by 5 p.m. Arizona time).
- Second week of C session courses (10 business days from the start of the session by 5 p.m. Arizona time).
- Any late add requests beyond these timeframes will not be considered.
- Students will receive a notification from the CISA Administrative Office to their asu.edu email within 3-5 business days with the decision and any special registration instructions.
- If approved, the CISA Administrative Office will forward the student’s email to the ASU Registrar’s Office.
- Swap requests notice: Students requesting to swap from another college course into a CISA course, can do so without approval from the other college if the request is made before the university’s Add/Drop deadline. However, if the drop deadline has passed, students must obtain approval from the other college before CISA can move forward with the request.
Helpful reminders
- The CISA Administrative Office is only approved to review and consider late enrollment changes to courses offered through CISA. Please ensure any course(s) listed on the Enrollment Change Request Form are offered by CISA unless a swap is being requested.
- Requests that involve courses scheduled on-ground will not be considered if the course is at capacity due to fire marshall code.
Request to Drop a course offered by the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA)
Requests to drop a course offered by CISA after the drop/add deadline will not be considered. There is an opportunity to process a course withdrawal request after the drop/add deadline, which would remove the class from the student’s current schedule, and result in a grade of ‘W’ on the student’s official transcript. The grade of ‘W’ has no impact on a student’s grade point average (GPA). If a student would like to take this route, it’s important to be aware of course withdrawal deadlines.
Request to Withdraw from a course offered by the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA)
Requests to withdraw from a CISA course after the course withdrawal deadline will not be considered. The student may consider a complete withdrawal, which would remove the class from the student’s current schedule, and result in a grade of ‘W’ on the student’s official transcript. The grade of ‘W’ has no impact on a student’s grade point average (GPA). Consider course withdrawal deadlines when making this decision.
The Faculty Head of the department in CISA that is offering the course may approve a late add, late drop, or late withdrawal for a CISA course due to extenuating or extraordinary circumstances beyond the student’s control. Students must outline extenuating circumstances in the email statement to the instructor. The Enrollment Change Request Form and the written statement/email of support from the instructor of the course, should be sent to the CISA Administrative Office at cisa@asu.edu.
